On September 17, Honam University RISE Project Group announced that it is collaborating with Seo-gu, Gwangju to operate the "Youth Culture School Culture of New" program, aiming to revitalize the cultural arts tourism city based on local resources and to train young festival planning experts.

This program is part of the local industry-academia cooperation initiative for the revitalization of the cultural arts tourism city, currently being carried out by the Honam University RISE Project Group. It was designed to provide young people with practical, locally-connected career experiences and content planning skills, as well as to lay the groundwork for a modern reinterpretation of Seo-gu's unique cultural assets.

The program consists of a total of 36 hours of theory and practice-oriented curriculum, running until the 22nd of next month. It covers the basics of festival planning, analysis of K-culture trends, intellectual property rights, and ethics in planning such as ESG, and is designed so that participants can experience the entire process firsthand, from drafting local festival proposals to on-site simulations and operational training.

During the on-site training at the Seochang Eulalia Festival in the middle of next month, participating youth will be responsible for the overall operation of the actual event, allowing them to develop practical skills. This is expected to serve as a genuine project-based learning opportunity that goes beyond simple education by enabling direct participation in local festival management.

Lee Hyunsun, head of the Culture and Arts Division of Seo-gu, stated, "The Youth Culture School 'Culture of New' is a regional coexistence project that shapes the future of Gwangju as a cultural arts tourism city together with young people. By nurturing the creative capabilities of youth based on local resources, it will contribute to enhancing Seo-gu's distinctive competitiveness in cultural tourism."

Professor Jeong Eunsung, the lead professor, added, "Through this program, the region's cultural content will be reinterpreted through the perspectives of young people and connected to real job and startup opportunities. It will serve as an important milestone in revitalizing the cultural arts tourism city."
