Uijeongbu City Expands Foundation for Advanced Defense Industry Cooperation

Signing of MOU with Winners Co., Ltd. and Space&Bean Co., Ltd.

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Donggeun Kim) signed a memorandum of understanding on the 16th with Winners Co., Ltd. and Space&Bean Co., Ltd. to create an advanced defense industry ecosystem that will drive innovation in the sector.

This agreement was established to foster the defense industry as a future growth engine and to broaden the foundation for collaboration with companies. It follows a previous agreement signed on the 8th with advanced drone industry companies Assetta Co., Ltd. and Iwonlab Co., Ltd. The city is expanding its scope of cooperation into various industrial fields by partnering with companies specializing in defense software and space radiation shielding technology.

Winners Co., Ltd. is a specialized defense software development company focused on system development and consulting in the fields of command and control, battlefield management, and tactical data links for the Air Force and Navy. It has been designated as a promising small enterprise by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and has received venture business and technology innovation INNO-BIZ certifications from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, officially recognizing its technological capabilities and growth potential.

Space&Bean Co., Ltd. is an outstanding startup developing space radiation shielding technology, with differentiated competitiveness targeting both the medical market and the space and defense sectors. The company was selected for the Global Company Collaboration Program by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and has been certified as a promising defense venture, demonstrating its growth potential and innovative capabilities.

With this agreement, the city plans to expand its network of defense industry partners across various fields and to encourage local companies to transition into the defense sector, thereby broadening the advanced industry ecosystem. In addition, the city will strengthen corporate support systems and policy backing at the municipal level to ensure these efforts lead to tangible results.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "The defense industry is a vital sector that supports both regional economic development and national security," adding, "We will build a defense industry ecosystem where companies and the local community grow together."
