Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province will host the 19th Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival from September 18 to 21 at Euiam Park and Nuri Park.

According to the county on September 17, this year’s festival will showcase Jangsu’s signature red foods, including Hanwoo beef and apples grown in the pristine highlands, as well as tomatoes and omija. The most notable feature of this year’s Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival is the expansion of the “Hanwoo Yard,” with a large tent and 2,500 seats, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy Jangsu Hanwoo in a more comfortable setting. In addition, a separate “Apple Yard” has been set up so that everyone can experience and taste premium Jangsu apples in one place.

Other improvements include the installation of a canopy covering 1,000 seats at the main stage, an indoor gymnasium as a cooling shelter, expanded photo zones, and nighttime fireworks, enhancing both convenience and attractions for festival-goers.

In line with its status as Korea’s premier red food festival, the entire venue has been decorated with 15,000 red begonias, and the area around Euiam Lake has been illuminated with colorful lights, creating a beautiful space that can be enjoyed both day and night.

At the festival, visitors can enjoy the “Hanwoo Yard,” where they can grill and taste Jangsu Hanwoo beef firsthand; the “Apple Yard,” featuring seasonal Hongro apples and various other varieties; and the “Red Food Zone,” where special red food dishes made from Jangsu’s signature products-Hanwoo beef, apples, tomatoes, and omija-are available in one place.

Special events that highlight the identity of the Jangsu Red Food Festival include “Red Food Cooking with Professional Chefs” who appeared on Black & White Chef, “Tomato Spaghetti with Dad” for families, and “Red Food Temple Cuisine with Monk Jeonghyo,” a master of temple food.

This year’s festival will also feature more performances than ever before. The program includes a romantic concert for the 7080 generation to evoke nostalgia and emotion, an opening celebration concert, the energetic Red Concert, and a closing concert with fireworks, making it an event that everyone can enjoy regardless of age or gender.

To ensure safety, the county has strengthened its safety management system by deploying public officials, police officers, and safety personnel in areas where large crowds are expected, and by enhancing patrols, so that both residents and visitors can enjoy the festival with peace of mind.

Kim Honggi, chairperson of the festival organizing committee, stated, “The Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival is Jangsu’s signature brand festival, created together by the residents. I hope you will visit with your family, partner, or friends and fully enjoy the flavors, excitement, and joy of Jangsu’s autumn festival.”

Choi Hunsik, the county governor, said, “Now in its 19th year, the Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival has been prepared more thoroughly than ever to ensure that both residents and visitors are satisfied. I hope that many people will join us this autumn, the season of harvest, and create special and happy memories together.”
