Special Invited Performances Including
Jultagi, Hwacheon Nongak, and Sugungga
The Geochang Local Folk Preservation Association in South Gyeongsang Province will hold a public event for the province's intangible cultural heritage, including Geochang Hemp Ilsori, Geochang Ilsori, and Geochang Sangyeo Diddilbangae Exorcism Song, at the outdoor stage of the Geochang Transmission Education Center starting at 10 a.m. on the 19th.
This year marks the 30th anniversary since Geochang Hemp Ilsori was designated as an intangible cultural heritage of South Gyeongsang Province (on May 2, 1995), making the event even more meaningful.
This event is expected to serve as a significant occasion to widely promote and preserve the value of traditional culture, featuring not only Geochang Hemp Ilsori but also Geochang Ilsori and Geochang Sangyeo Diddilbangae Exorcism Song.
In particular, special invited performances will include Jultagi (tightrope walking, a national intangible cultural heritage from Gwacheon), Hwacheon Nongak (a South Gyeongsang intangible heritage from Haman), and Sugungga (a South Gyeongsang intangible heritage from Sacheon), allowing visitors to enjoy the excitement and elegance of traditional arts in one place. Additionally, an exhibition of archival photographs documenting the history of transmission will be held concurrently, offering visitors a diverse and moving experience.
An official from Geochang County stated, "The intangible cultural heritage of Geochang is a precious culture that has embraced the joys and sorrows of our local people over many years," adding, "We hope this public event will widely promote the value of traditional culture and provide visitors with an enjoyable hands-on experience."
Currently, the Geochang Transmission Education Center is offering a variety of hands-on and educational programs to preserve and transmit intangible cultural heritage.
