Gangbuk-gu Launches "Healing Tourism" Wellness WEEK Program

Healing and Relaxation Combined at Bukhansan, Uicheon, and Hwagyesa Temple

Gangbuk-gu in Seoul (Mayor Lee Soonhee) will host the “Gangbuk-Style Wellness WEEK” from this month through October. This event is a follow-up project to the “Gangbuk-Style Bukhansan Wellness Tourism Revitalization Plan (2025-2030)” established this year, and is designed to allow both residents and tourists to experience the value of recovery and relaxation for both body and mind.

Through this program, the district aims to minimize the gap period before the establishment of wellness tourism anchor facilities, and to build a unique Gangbuk wellness brand by surveying actual demand and participant feedback. The plan is to propose a “Gangbuk-Style Wellness Model” that combines the pristine natural environment of Bukhansan with local historical and cultural resources, enabling visitors to enjoy health, relaxation, and culture all at once.

Experiences will be offered at six of Gangbuk-gu’s major attractions: the Uicheon Riverside Vitality Base (Jaeganjeong), Hwagyesa Temple, Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Bukhansan, Uidong Mountain Culture HUB, Uidong Family Campsite, and the Park Eulbok Embroidery Museum.

Main programs include “Discovering Hidden Sounds in Bukhansan,” where participants walk forest trails and focus on the sounds of nature; singing bowl meditation in “Finding the Hidden Resonance in My Heart”; a customized Nordic walking experience called “Finding the Hidden 1cm in My Body”; a color psychology-based activity, “Finding the Hidden Colors Within Me”; and an embroidery motif punch needle experience, “A Thread of Color Embroidered in My Heart.”

Some experiences will be operated in collaboration with Hwagyesa Temple Stay, Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Bukhansan, and Uidong Family Campsite, and programs for foreign participants are also included, raising expectations for international promotional effects. Detailed schedules and reservations for each program can be made through the Gangbuk-gu Office website’s integrated reservation system, the Hwagyesa Temple Stay website, the Uidong Family Campsite reservation page, and the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Instagram.

Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, stated, “We hope that the Gangbuk-Style Wellness Tourism Program, which combines nature, culture, and relaxation, will provide a special experience for both residents and tourists. We will continue to develop differentiated tourism content utilizing local resources in the future.”
