Wonju City in Gangwon Province has finalized the detailed program for the '2025 Wonju Ramyeon Festa,' which will be held for three days from September 19 to 21 at the outdoor theater area of Sangji University.
Wonju is known as the birthplace of Samyang Ramyeon, Korea's first instant noodle, and the city plans to make this festival a signature Korean food event that showcases the history, present, and new possibilities of ramyeon.
During the festival, ramyeon events in which citizens can participate directly will be held on the main stage every day at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. A variety of hands-on programs are prepared so that people of all ages can enjoy and participate in the festivities.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on the first day, September 19, followed by a cooking show by Chef Kwon Sungjun, the winner of 'Black & White Chef' and renowned for his fine dining expertise. Known by the nickname 'Napoli Matfia,' Chef Kwon will unveil a special recipe that reinterprets ramyeon in a fine dining style, further heating up the excitement of the festival.
On September 19 and 20 at 3 p.m., a live ramyeon mukbang broadcast will be held with popular YouTubers. This will be a special opportunity for real-time interaction with online viewers through live eating broadcasts taking place on site.
On September 19, the Sangji University cheerleading squad and a taekwondo demonstration will be featured, while on September 20, there will be a performance by the Wonju Warak Busking group. Professional and amateur performance teams from the Wonju Cultural Foundation, as well as local art organizations, will also participate, offering a variety of exciting attractions for citizens.
Won Kangsu, Mayor of Wonju, stated, "The Wonju Ramyeon Festa is a representative Korean festival where citizens and tourists can enjoy together through the familiar theme of ramyeon. In particular, differentiated programs such as Chef Kwon Sungjun's cooking show and the YouTuber ramyeon mukbang live broadcast will serve as core content that demonstrates the unique identity of Wonju's festival."
