Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin Attends Seongnam Child Committee Workshop
Significant Expansion of Child Committee Members from 42 to 962
On the afternoon of September 15, Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin attended the "2025 Seongnam City Child Committee First Workshop (Orientation)" held at Onnuri Hall in City Hall and presented appointment letters to 50 representative committee members from each district.

In his commemorative speech, Mayor Shin stated, "With the ordinance amendment in August, we have significantly expanded the number of child committee members from 42 to 962," and added, "I hope that your diverse networks will serve as a strong support for children in need."
He continued, "Together with all of you, Seongnam City will establish a thorough and robust community safety net to create a city where every child can grow up safely and healthily."
More than 510 out of the 962 child committee members, including Mayor Shin Sangjin, attended the workshop that day.

The first part of the event included the presentation of appointment letters, orientation, commemorative speech, and a group photo. In the second part, Jung Byungsoo, Head of the L&D Center at the Korean Committee for UNICEF, delivered a special lecture titled "A Child-Friendly City We Create: The Role and Power of Child Committee Members."
Seongnam City acquired the "UNICEF Child-Friendly City Advanced Level Certification" in July, and on September 16, it plans to provide child abuse prevention training for 600 employees working at child and childcare facilities.
