- Five-Year Joint Research and Investment
Full-Scale Advancement of Next-Generation VPP Platform Integrating Solar On Care and Mohat
- Leading the Paradigm Shift in the Distributed Energy Power Market
Accelerating the Convergence of Technology and Services
H Energy, the operator of the AI solar platform Solar On Care, led by CEO Ham Ilhan, signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement (MOU) with the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) Open Innovation Big Data Center (OIBC, headed by Professor Ko Youngmyung) on September 12, 2025. The agreement aims to jointly research and develop leading technologies for the operation of an intelligent virtual power plant (VPP) platform. Under this agreement, the two organizations will conduct joint research for five years, from September 2025 to August 2030, and will work together to advance the intelligent VPP platform.
This collaboration focuses not only on technology development but also prioritizes technology transfer and expert consulting for platform commercialization, with the goal of expanding industrial applications.
Solar On Care and Mohat, H Energy’s flagship energy platform services, will serve as the core demonstration bases for this industry-academia cooperation.
Of particular note, the collaboration aims to create a next-generation VPP platform by combining Solar On Care’s accumulated SaaS-based AI technology and experience in operating distributed resource platform services, with POSTECH OIBC’s data and research expertise in VPP and power trading. Solar On Care is a SaaS platform that automates the entire process from power generation guarantees to anomaly diagnosis, response, and revenue management by integrating its proprietary predictive AI algorithm and big data-based clustering technology to analyze power plant data in real time. As of September 2025, Solar On Care has attracted a cumulative total of 4,700 sites, setting a new standard for power plant operation and management.
The energy investment platform Mohat distributes solar power generation profits to its members. By transforming individuals from simple investors into energy producers and owners, Mohat has become the leading distributed energy investment platform in Korea, reaching a cumulative 190,000 subscribers and a total investment of 360 billion KRW within five years of its launch.
Ham Ilhan, CEO of H Energy, stated, "This industry-academia cooperation goes beyond simple research collaboration, aiming to generate tangible results that can be directly applied to platform services such as Solar On Care and Mohat, as well as the broader industry. It will serve as a turning point for expanding our presence in the intelligent VPP platform sector, not only in Korea but also globally."
Choi Donggu, Professor at POSTECH OIBC, emphasized, "Collaboration with H Energy, which possesses proven data and technology from the industrial field, will contribute greatly not only to academic research but also to the advancement of the national renewable energy industry. This partnership will play a key role in the paradigm shift toward VPP and distributed resource-based power markets, and will establish itself as a central force in the global energy transition."
Meanwhile, on September 4, 2025, Ham Ilhan, CEO of H Energy, was awarded the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the "2025 SME Technology and Management Innovation Expo" hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Korea’s renewable energy industry, officially demonstrating his leadership in energy technology innovation and platform ecosystem building.
