Previously, after Charlie Kirk was killed, some celebrities and influencers posted tributes to him on their social media accounts, only to delete them later and issue explanations or apologies. On September 11, Choi Siwon shared a memorial post from John Bevere, a well-known American pastor and author, as well as from the Christian community 'Bible Alive,' on his social media. The posts included messages such as, "We mourn the death of Charlie Kirk, one of America's heroes. He was a man who stood firmly against evil," and "Charlie Kirk, rest in peace." When some interpreted Choi Siwon's post as supporting Kirk's far-right views, he deleted the post.
Meanwhile, Haejju (real name Go Haeju), a Korean-Australian YouTuber with about 800,000 subscribers, faced criticism and apologized after liking a video commemorating Charlie Kirk. On September 13, Haejju explained on her Instagram, "I think I made a judgment based only on a few fragmented aspects without fully understanding his political stance during his lifetime," and added, "I learned about it because many people informed me, and I was quite shocked." She continued, "As an influencer, I learned that I need to be more certain about the situation before taking any action and realized that I still have a lot to learn."
Some celebrities and influencers left tributes to Kirk's death, but faced criticism for allegedly revealing their political stance. Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk, founder and head of the right-wing organization 'Turning Point USA,' which led support campaigns for U.S. President Donald Trump, was shot and killed on September 10 (local time) while attending a debate at Utah Valley University in Utah, USA.
