Communicating with the World through Olympic Legacy and K-Culture
Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province (Governor Shim Jaeguk) will hold a progress report meeting at 2:00 p.m. on September 15 in the small conference room of the county office to ensure the successful hosting of the "2025 World Union of Olympic Cities General Assembly" (hereafter referred to as the 2025 General Assembly), which will be held in Pyeongchang from October 22 to 25.
Approximately 30 participants, including the county governor, deputy governor, department heads, representatives from the Pyeongchang 2018 Memorial Foundation, the Pyeongchang Legacy Foundation, and event service agencies, will attend the meeting to review the progress and detailed implementation plans for the 2025 General Assembly.
The World Union of Olympic Cities General Assembly is an international conference where representatives of Olympic host cities, International Olympic Committee officials, and international sports experts gather in one place. Based on its experience hosting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics, Pyeongchang County has secured the bid and is preparing to host this General Assembly.
During the meeting, Governor Shim Jaeguk stated, "This General Assembly is a great opportunity to showcase Pyeongchang's efforts to revitalize its Olympic legacy to the world as an Olympic host city," and added, "Please prepare programs that allow participants to experience K-Culture during their visit to Pyeongchang, and above all, ensure thorough preparations for a safe event."
Through this meeting, Pyeongchang County reviewed detailed plans for operating the 2025 General Assembly program, tours of Olympic legacy facilities, Korean cultural experiences, and safety management measures. The county also plans to strengthen its cooperation system with related organizations to ensure the successful hosting of the General Assembly.
