MOU Signed with North Gyeongsang Province and Gumi City
Largest Facility in Korea... Over 570 New Hires Planned
On September 12, North Gyeongsang Province and Gumi City signed an investment memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Aimedee Co., Ltd. at the Gumi Convention Center. The signing ceremony was attended by North Gyeongsang Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geumhee, Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho, and Gumi City Council Vice Chairman Yang Jin-ho, among others.
Aimedee Co., Ltd. is a contact lens manufacturing company headquartered in Gyeongsan. The company independently develops molds for injection molding and all the production equipment required for the entire process, and possesses unique high water content (wearability) lens technology.

Through this investment, a new factory worth 133.1 billion won will be established in a building with a total area of 48,346 square meters (14,000 pyeong) within the Gumi National Industrial Complex 1. The company will also build a mass production system for color contact lenses.
The company aims to operate production facilities capable of manufacturing 100 million units per month by 2028, making it the largest production facility in Korea and on par with leading global manufacturers. With advanced automated equipment and large-scale hiring (570 new employees planned), the company expects to achieve both increased productivity and job creation, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
In particular, as the global K-beauty industry rapidly expands and the color contact lens market grows explosively, this investment is expected to serve as a strategic foothold for targeting the global market.
As color contact lenses are increasingly recognized as beauty and fashion items beyond simple vision correction products, demand is surging. Aimedee Co., Ltd. plans to accelerate its entry into the global market by leveraging its technological capabilities and brand competitiveness.
North Gyeongsang Province and Gumi City plan to continue improving the investment environment and providing support to encourage Aimedee Co., Ltd. to pursue further investments. They also hope that this investment will serve as a catalyst for attracting additional investments from other companies in the optical and medical device sectors.
Yang Geumhee, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of North Gyeongsang Province, stated, "Aimedee Co., Ltd.'s investment will serve as a turning point, making Gumi the center of the global contact lens industry," adding, "North Gyeongsang Province will actively support the creation of an environment where companies can grow with confidence and become globally competitive small giants."
