Gapyeong County in Gyeonggi Province held the opening ceremony for the 'Jarasum Flower Festa' on September 13 at Jarasum Namdo, officially launching the festival, which has been selected as Gyeonggi Province's representative tourism festival for three consecutive years.

About 50 people attended the opening ceremony, including Seo Taewon, Governor of Gapyeong County, Kim Kyungsoo, Chairman of the Gapyeong County Council, county council members, and heads of local organizations and social groups.


The event began with a traditional Korean drum performance, symbolizing the sound of hope. Governor Seo and Chairman Kim conducted a rice cake cutting ceremony, expressing the community's wishes to overcome flood damage.


In his welcoming remarks, Governor Seo Taewon stated, "This flower festival is an occasion that demonstrates the hope that all residents can unite as one to overcome the flood damage and rise again. With the warm support of so many people, I will do my utmost to help Gapyeong grow even stronger."

This year's festival is themed 'Flowers Blooming After Hardship, Thank You for Your Warm Support.'


At the entrance to Namdo, a 'Tree of Comfort and Gratitude' has been installed, allowing visitors to leave messages of thanks to those who helped overcome the flood damage and words of comfort for affected residents. The venue is also adorned with a variety of autumn flowers, including zinnias symbolizing connection, penstemon representing grace, and sunflowers embodying hope, welcoming visitors with vibrant colors.

The Flower Festa will run until October 12, with admission hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and exit by 7 p.m. Gapyeong residents and children aged five and under are admitted free of charge. External visitors pay an entrance fee of 7,000 won, of which 5,000 won is refunded in the form of a Gapyeong Love Gift Certificate.
