Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that on September 12, a citizens' rally was held at the Woongsang Culture and Sports Center to urge the swift implementation of the "Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan Metropolitan Rail Construction Project." The event was organized by the Woongsang Development Council, chaired by Lee Changhun.
The event was attended by over 300 people, including Yangsan Mayor Na Dongyeon, members of the National Assembly, provincial and city council members, and local residents. Participants celebrated the metropolitan rail project passing the preliminary feasibility study, recited a citizens' resolution, and held a paper airplane event to express their hopes and determination for the project.
The metropolitan rail line connecting Nopo-dong in Geumjeong District, Busan, Woongsang in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and KTX Ulsan Station passed the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on July 10. Once completed, travel time between Busan, Yangsan, and Ulsan is expected to be reduced to about 30 minutes, effectively creating a one-hour living zone. This is anticipated to not only expand the exchange of people and goods between regions but also positively impact urban redevelopment around transfer stations and revitalize the local economy.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "I hope this rally will serve as a starting point for all of us to combine our wisdom and capabilities to ensure that the project proceeds smoothly, going beyond a simple celebration."
