In the 44th Korea Architecture Awards International Open Competition, which discovers new architects in Korea every year, seven students from Dongmyung University's Department of Architecture were selected in the first round: fifth-year students Kim Donggyu, Kim Jaeyoon, Choi Yujeong, Son Jiseong, Lee Yuna, and fourth-year students Lee Chaeun and Lee Gyuyoung.

These students are scheduled to submit models and other materials for the second-round evaluation to the Korea Institute of Architects on September 15, and the entries advancing to the main award, which will be subject to the third-round presentation evaluation, will be selected afterward.

Last year, this department was the only one outside the capital region to have more than two students, a total of five, win special prizes. All entries that received at least an honorable mention will be exhibited at the 2025 Korea Architecture Culture Festival (Seoul Nodeul Island) on October 21.

At the 2025 Busan International Architecture Competition, which attracts many emerging architects from across Asia, fifth-year student Kim Namhee and fourth-year student Choi Jinyoung were selected for the second-round presentations competing for special prizes or higher, while fourth-year student Park Junhee and 17 others were selected as honorable mention winners.

Additionally, fourth-year students Lee Chaeun and Choi Jinyoung, who submitted entries to the 29th LH Youth Housing Architecture Competition under the theme "Urban Valley, Urban Alley: Youth Housing Connected to the City," are preparing to submit their second-round main entries on September 17.

On June 28, fourth-year student Lee Mintae won the Excellence Award (Docomomo International Award) at the 2025 Modern City Architecture Design Competition with the project "Red Memories: Proposal for an Animal Experiment History Park."

At the 20th Korea Rural Architecture Competition, second-year students Nam Dongwon, Kim Siyeon, and Yoo Jua received the Excellence Award, and six others were selected as honorable mention winners. In the renowned international competition Buildner-MUSEUM OF EMOTIONS, fourth-year student Na Gyutae was selected as an honorable mention winner.

At the 2025 Busan International Architectural Design Workshop, held at the end of June under the theme "Connection and Communication: Integrated Urban Architecture Plan for Bujeon Station Area," nine young architects from Busan and 72 local university students participated. The fourth-year team from Dongmyung University (Ahn Junghyun, Lee Sangwook, Ha Seokhyeon, Choi Jinyoung) received an award.

Professor Lee Gilim attributes the students' outstanding design competitiveness to the department's unique curriculum, including the nation's only Ministry of Education-designated "BIM (Building Information Modeling, virtual construction-based, advanced architectural design techniques) specialized double major" program.

Upon graduation, students earn a Bachelor of Architecture as a basic degree and additionally obtain a Convergence BIM major.

Furthermore, the department is attracting significant attention for its practical, internationally-oriented design education, which utilizes a variety of programs such as full support for student competitions, regular joint classes with Paris-Belleville School of Architecture in France, student exchange with the University of Kansas in the United States, and regular architectural field trips.
