100 Days of the Lee Jaemyung Administration... Jeollanam-do Aligns Its Pace with Energy Industry Development Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok is presiding over an emergency meeting regarding follow-up measures after President Lee Jae-myung's 100-day press conference, held on the 12th at the Jeong Yak-yong Room in the provincial office with attendance from department and bureau heads. On September 12, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, expressed his strong support for President Lee Jaemyung's issue-specific policy alternatives and called for Jeollanam-do to play an active role in advancing the new administration's regional balanced development strategy and energy policy.

Governor Kim presided over a departmental meeting on current issues related to President Lee Jaemyung's 100-day press conference that day, stating, "Through the press conference, we were able to reaffirm President Lee's strong commitment to revitalizing the renewable energy industry," and emphasized, "The energy policies that Jeollanam-do has prepared during the 7th and 8th popularly elected administrations can now gain real momentum."

Jeollanam-do boasts the nation's highest potential for renewable energy, including solar power and offshore wind power. The province is making the energy future a reality by establishing initiatives such as the Asia-Pacific's largest 3.2GW resident-participatory offshore wind power cluster, agrivoltaics, the country's first data center RE100 industrial complex, and a plan for a decentralized energy superhighway.

Jeollanam-do has taken the lead in developing and promoting new policy alternatives such as energy basic income, resident-participatory renewable energy generation projects, and a resident profit-sharing system. In addition, to achieve an annual energy basic income of 1 trillion won, the province plans to expand public-led renewable energy distribution and revitalize the renewable energy industry to significantly increase the number of quality jobs.

Governor Kim stated, "In particular, the large-scale industrial complexes that the President mentioned, which will provide comprehensive support in areas such as taxation, regulation, electricity rates, supporting infrastructure, and living conditions, are perfectly aligned with the energy innovation growth belt in the southwest region of Jeollanam-do." He added, "Together with the new administration, we will realize the vision for Jeollanam-do's next 100 years of growth."

To drive the major renewable energy transition in the eastern region, which is a key pillar of regional development, Jeollanam-do will immediately form a 'Renewable Energy Expansion Task Force' led by the head of the Eastern Regional Headquarters and will accelerate initiatives such as converting petrochemical and steel industrial complexes into microgrid industrial complexes.

Governor Kim declared, "Jeollanam-do is fully prepared to align with the government's policy of expanding renewable energy. It is only natural that the most advanced energy innovation model will begin in Jeollanam-do," and added, "Together with the residents, we will systematically and strategically implement the blueprints that Jeollanam-do has envisioned, including the RE100 national industrial complex."
