Jeonnam Province has launched a "Relay Support Challenge" to wish for the successful hosting of the 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo and to encourage nationwide interest and participation.
The challenge was organized to widely promote the expo's vision, including the globalization of Namdo cuisine, fostering a sustainable gourmet industry, expanding exports of local food companies, and increasing global gourmet exchanges. It also aims to create nationwide excitement for the event.
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, who took the first turn in the challenge, stated, "It is especially meaningful to host the expo at a time when global interest in K-Food is surging along with the Korean Wave. We will ensure the success of the expo to solidify the brand value of Namdo cuisine and use this as an opportunity to expand its industrial potential."
Governor Kim Youngrok nominated National Assemblyman Kim Won, Gwangju Metropolitan City Mayor Kang Gijung, and Jeonnam Provincial Council Chairman Kim Taegyun as the next participants in the challenge.
Going forward, ambassadors, mayors and county governors from the Jeonnam region, provincial council members, Mokpo city council members, and other figures from various fields are expected to join in succession, gathering nationwide support and interest for the success of the expo.
The 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo is the first gourmet-themed international event in Korea to connect the value of Namdo cuisine-created from Jeonnam's pristine ingredients and rich culinary tradition-with industry. It will be held from October 1 to 26 at the Mokpo Culture and Arts Center, featuring a variety of programs under the slogan "Taste Nature, Savor the Sea."
