According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, at around 10:30 a.m. on the 16th of last month, Police Lieutenant Kim Hyungjoong and Police Sergeant Kim Yongshin from the Gwangmyeong Police Precinct were patrolling near Gwangmyeong Sageori Station when they spotted a white SUV driving urgently with its hazard lights on. Loud screams could be heard from inside the vehicle, and sensing an emergency, the officers immediately followed the car.

Soon after, the SUV stopped by the side of the road, and a woman, Ms. A, ran out from the back seat holding a child wearing only a diaper in her arms. Her three-year-old son, B, had lost consciousness due to a febrile seizure.

Holding her child, Ms. A rushed to the patrol car and pleaded, "My child is unconscious," asking for help. Lieutenant Kim and Sergeant Kim immediately put the mother and child in the patrol car, turned on the siren, and headed to the nearest hospital. Thanks to weaving through the tightly packed traffic and changing lanes, the patrol car arrived at the hospital, which was 2 kilometers away, in just 2 minutes. Normally, this section would take about 8 minutes due to congestion, but with the cooperation of citizens making way, they were able to arrive much faster.

After receiving treatment in the emergency room, B quickly recovered and was safely discharged. Ms. A said, "It was such an urgent situation that when I saw the patrol car passing by, I desperately asked for help," adding, "I am truly grateful to the police officers who transported my son to the hospital quickly and safely."

The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency selected this case as the twelfth story in the 'I Am a Police Officer' project to highlight the mature civic consciousness of drivers who made way during the emergency dispatch, and posted a related video on YouTube.
