Providing Customized Tourism Services for Increasing Rail Passengers
Developing Railway Tour Packages in Collaboration with Korail
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) has opened a Tourist Information Center inside Gijang Station, accelerating efforts to boost local tourism.
On September 9, the county announced the official opening of the Gijang Station Tourist Information Center. The center was established to provide systematic tourism information and customized convenience services in response to the recent increase in tourists visiting Gijang via the Donghae Line and Jungang Line railways.
The Tourist Information Center operates year-round from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closing only on Mondays and public holidays. It is designed as an open space within Gijang Station to enhance accessibility, and serves as a tourism platform by offering guidance on major attractions, transportation information, distribution of promotional materials, and support for railway tourism products.
Taking the opening as an opportunity, the county is preparing a variety of railway-linked tourism initiatives. In September, an event will be held in collaboration with Korail to provide transportation subsidies to train passengers, and in November, a railway tour package utilizing the Gijang course will be launched to attract group tourists.
Governor Jung Jongbok stated, "The Tourist Information Center will provide tailored information to visitors to Gijang, enhancing travel convenience and satisfaction. We will operate it as a hub to promote the charm of Gijang and strengthen the 'Tourism City Gijang' brand."
In April, Gijang County signed a 'Mutual Cooperation Agreement for the Use of Gijang Station and Promotion of Railway Tourism' with the Busan Gyeongnam Headquarters of Korail, and is currently working on developing a variety of railway tourism products.
