Discussion on Key Issues Including Establishment of Ship Supplies Wholesale Corporation, Customs Improvement, and MRO Cooperation Platform
Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, has come together with the port-related industry.
The purpose was to listen to the industry's current issues and seek ways to improve systems and provide support measures.
On September 5, BPA held a meeting with representatives of port-related industry associations at Lavalse Hotel in Yeongdo-gu, Busan. The port-related industry includes core foundational sectors that support the operation of Busan Port, such as ship supplies, ship repair, ship management, bunkering, and inspection and certification.
The meeting was attended by representatives and officials from various associations, including the Busan Port Industry Federation. The participants presented key agenda items such as support for the operation of the Federation, the establishment of a ship supplies wholesale corporation, improvement of customs regulations, the creation of a ship management and MRO cooperation platform, support for safety equipment for bunkering vessels, improvement of working conditions at inspection sites, and the prevention of safety accidents.
BPA plans to actively review system improvements in cooperation with relevant organizations, and to prepare multifaceted support measures in connection with the 'Port-Related Industry Specialized Support Project' and the 'WEBUSAN' certification and support system for outstanding companies in the shipping and port industry. BPA will also establish a regular communication channel to ensure that voices from the field are reflected in policy.
President Song Sanggeun emphasized, "The competitiveness of Busan Port comes from its diverse related industries. We will create an ecosystem for growth together with the industry," adding, "We will prioritize worker safety and share comprehensive measures with the industry, including updating manuals, standardizing equipment, and strengthening education and training."
