Mayor Lee Jangwoo: "Let's Raise Them Together as a Community"
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, invited a public servant couple who recently had triplets to celebrate their babies' 100th day since birth. He remarked, "The 100th day marks our gratitude for the newborns' healthy adaptation to the world and our hopes for their continued growth. With the belief that children are raised by the entire community, we will make our childcare policies even more effective."
On the morning of September 9, Mayor Lee held a congratulatory and encouraging meeting in the city hall reception room with the public servant couple who had welcomed triplet daughters 100 days ago.
The stars of the day were the triplet sisters Soyoon Park, Chaeyoon Park, and Choyoon Park, born on June 2, along with their parents, Yookyung Jeon and Junyong Park, who work at the Daejeon Metropolitan Waterworks Headquarters and the Seo-gu Office for the Elderly and Disabled, respectively.
After giving birth, Ms. Jeon, the triplets' mother, expressed her gratitude on Daejeon City's internal online network (congratulatory and condolence board) to her colleagues who shared her work responsibilities during her maternity leave, as well as for the city's childbirth support policies. This message prompted a wave of congratulations and encouragement, leading to the celebration of the triplets' 100th day.
Yookyung Jeon and Junyong Park said, "Thanks to the consideration of our colleagues who shared work during my pregnancy, as well as the city's telecommuting and childcare time policies, we were able to have a safe delivery. We will do our best to raise our children to be grateful individuals."
Also attending the event was Jaekyung Lim, CEO of The Bambu, a Daejeon-based company specializing in baby products, who donated childcare items worth approximately 900,000 won, further supporting the joint public and private efforts for childbirth and parenting assistance.
Jongik Lee, head of the Waterworks Headquarters, said, "I wish for the healthy growth of the triplets, and I will take the lead in fostering a family-friendly workplace culture where staff help each other and actively utilize childbirth support policies."
