IFA, which opened on September 5, will run for five days until September 9. IFA, which began in 1924, is the world's largest exhibition for home appliances, electronics, and IT, attracting more than 200,000 visitors and global buyers every year. This year marks KIDP's first participation, and the organization plans to establish a foothold for domestic companies to expand globally based on design.
A total of 18 companies are participating in the Korea Design Pavilion. Thirteen small and manufacturing companies will showcase innovative products incorporating design, while five design-specialized companies will join as the "Design Market Pioneers," seeking opportunities for collaboration with local companies and startups. The Design Market Pioneers program selects design companies with high export potential and supports their overseas expansion by providing local market trends and information, export training, business consultations, and networking opportunities.
The main exhibits include: ▲ eco-friendly hydrogen fuel cell power generation devices (Eflow), ▲ CES Innovation Award-winning healthcare products (Daram), ▲ modular coffee dispensing machines capable of playing advertisements (PTG Company), and ▲ AI-based voice recognition rings (Vtouch).
KIDP provides comprehensive support for the entire exhibition preparation process, from pavilion planning and product transportation to interpretation and buyer matching, to help participating companies make tangible progress in overseas expansion. During the exhibition, business consultation sessions and networking programs are held, offering participating companies opportunities to directly interact with global buyers and gain insights into local markets, cultures, and design trends.
After the exhibition, KIDP will offer customized one-on-one consulting to small and manufacturing companies with limited overseas experience, providing support from export and legal experts for follow-up negotiations with buyers, sample shipments, and contract reviews, thereby increasing their chances of successful overseas expansion.
Yoon Sangheum, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, stated, "Through our first participation in IFA, we are supporting our companies to seize new opportunities in the global home appliance and tech markets. We will continue to expand support so that innovative, design-driven companies can strengthen their competitiveness on the international stage."
