Posco Group Launches Safety Innovation and Future Strategy Advisory Committee

Discovering Strategic Businesses Based on Safety
Extensive Participation of External Experts

Posco Group has launched the "Safety Innovation and Future Strategy Advisory Committee" to create a safer workplace and discover future business opportunities.

On September 8, Posco Group announced the establishment of the advisory committee, an independent body directly under the chairman. The committee will be operated with three subcommittees: safety, future business, and communication. Each subcommittee includes external experts and the group's top management, who will provide objective and independent advice necessary for setting the company's management direction.

The committee is chaired by Park Junsik, Vice President of Hallym University. The safety subcommittee includes Kim Kyungmoon, President of Sungkonghoe University. The future business subcommittee features Yoon Youngcheol, Vice President of Planet03 Partners, and Oh Daegyun, Visiting Professor at Seoul National University. The communication subcommittee has Yoo Seungchan, CEO of Storydot, as a specialist member.

The safety subcommittee will propose global-level safety innovation measures, such as strengthening the right to stop work, establishing an integrated safety management system for both primary contractors and subcontractors, and applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Based on these initiatives, the group plans to develop and operate a "safety-specialized company" strategy at the group level and expand to policy recommendations.

The future business subcommittee will focus on identifying strategic industries, such as energy, environment, and rare earth elements, that can create synergy with the group's existing businesses and enhance global competitiveness. It will also address environmental changes, such as carbon neutrality and energy transition, and seek ways to promote mutual growth and cooperation.

The communication subcommittee will share the outcomes of the advisory committee's discussions with stakeholders and strengthen communication with policy institutions, thereby building a foundation for public-private cooperation.

The advisory committee will hold its inaugural ceremony on September 9 in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, and will conduct regular meetings at each business site once a month. When necessary, external experts will be invited to further develop agenda items, and the committee's activities will continue accordingly.
