In the men's weekly world golf rankings announced on September 7 (local time), he earned 0.5447 points, jumping 163 spots from 432nd place the previous week. He accumulated these points by winning the KPGA Founders Cup (total prize money: 700 million won) of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour, held the previous day at Golfzon County Yeongam45 (par 72) in Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do. This victory marked his second win of the season and fifth career win, coming four months after his last victory at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open in May. He received 140 million won in prize money for this win.
Moon Doyeop said, "I'm really happy to achieve multiple wins in a single season for the first time this year," and added, "I stayed focused until the end of the tournament. I was able to win with a good score because I concentrated well whenever I had a chance to lower my score throughout the event." He continued, "I have a strong desire to win the Genesis Grand Prize. I still have big dreams of playing on the PGA Tour in the United States, so I want to challenge myself on the Korn Ferry Tour (the second-tier tour)."
There were no changes among the top-ranked players as no PGA Tour event was held. Scottie Scheffler (United States), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, and Justin Thomas (all United States) maintained the top five positions. Among Korean players, Im Sungjae is ranked 30th, Kim Siwoo is 65th, An Byeonghun is 66th, and Kim Joo-hyung is 84th.
