Kang Sunwoo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who resigned amid the "aide mistreatment controversy," has left the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee, where she served for five years, and has moved to the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. On September 7, Kang announced on her social media, "I am starting a new journey as I move from the Health and Welfare Committee to the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee," adding, "After President Lee Jaemyung resigned, I have been appointed to the vacant seat on the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee."

Kang went on to mention people with disabilities, medically vulnerable groups, and abused children, stating, "My days as a member of the Health and Welfare Committee were spent struggling to stand in solidarity with those faces, those lives, and their suffering." Kang also quoted former President Roh Moo-hyun in her post. Roh once said, "The market should not be one that destroys the community, but one that serves the welfare and happiness of all people," and added, "That is why, even now, I often write the phrase 'a world where people live' when I sign guestbooks."

Furthermore, Kang referenced President Lee's remarks at the 39th Cabinet Meeting on August 29, saying, "Diplomacy, after all, is conducted by people, and to protect the national interest, we must win hearts." She added, "I will devote my sincerity and utmost effort to diplomacy that engages the international community in dialogue and wins their hearts." This is the first time in 46 days that Kang has posted on social media or engaged in public activities since she withdrew her nomination for Minister of Gender Equality and Family due to the aide mistreatment controversy.

Previously, Kang was nominated as the inaugural Minister of Gender Equality and Family under the Lee Jaemyung administration, but withdrew voluntarily on July 23 after allegations of mistreatment of aides surfaced during the confirmation process. At the time, Kang posted on Facebook, "I sincerely apologize to the public who were hurt because of me," and added, "I am endlessly sorry to President Lee Jaemyung, who trusted me and gave me this opportunity." It has recently been reported that the Seoul Southern District Office of Employment and Labor concluded the workplace harassment complaint against Kang as "not subject to legal application."
