On September 5, Seo District announced that it had held an opening ceremony for the Smart Senior Centers at the Seo District Senior Welfare Center, with over 100 attendees including Kim Ikang, head of Seo District Office, and local seniors.
The Smart Senior Center is a new type of digital welfare space where an information and communication technology (ICT)-based video platform is installed in existing senior centers, enabling real-time, interactive leisure and educational programs such as singing and yoga classes.
To produce and broadcast high-quality content for seniors, Seo District will set up and operate a dedicated studio at the Seo District Senior Welfare Center. In addition, Smart Senior Center assistants will be assigned to each center to help seniors participate in programs and use digital devices.
Cognitive health services will also be provided. Seo District plans to install smart tables at the Seo District Senior Welfare Center and Seobitmaru Senior Center, offering brain-training games such as spot-the-difference and whack-a-mole to support cognitive function and leisure activities for seniors.
Seo District will continue to expand the Smart Senior Centers, planning to add 70 more by next month for a total of 120 centers, and will provide user-centered content based on participant satisfaction surveys.
Kim Ikang, head of Seo District Office, stated, "The Smart Senior Center is more than just a place to rest; it is a multi-purpose space where seniors can learn, communicate, and maintain their health. We will continue to provide strong support so that seniors can easily adapt to the digital environment and enjoy their leisure time."
