Urban Regeneration Project Aims to Improve Living Conditions
and Restore Community in Areas with Vacant and Aging Buildings
Eunsan-ri in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, which had been suffering from flood damage and vacant houses, has been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "Our Neighborhood Revitalization" project. A total of 8.3 billion won will be invested to launch tangible urban regeneration initiatives, including home repairs, alleyway improvements, and the establishment of the Eunsancheon Communication Center.
On September 5, Buyeo County announced that it had been selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "Our Neighborhood Revitalization" project for 2025.
With this selection, the county secured a total budget of 8.3 billion won, including 5 billion won from the national government, 1 billion won from the provincial government, and approximately 2.3 billion won from the county budget. The Eunsan-ri urban regeneration project will be carried out through 2029.
Eunsan-ri is an area where 94% of the buildings are old, there are numerous vacant houses, and residents have long called for improvements to the living environment due to frequent flooding from the Eunsancheon stream and narrow alleyways.
The county will implement a range of initiatives, including support for home repairs and alleyway improvements, the creation of communication pathways, the installation of safe streets, rest areas, and parking lots in connection with the restoration of Eunsancheon, and the establishment of the "Eunsancheon Communication Center" utilizing idle land.
A county official stated, "This selection is the result of both resident participation and administrative efforts," adding, "We will create changes that residents can truly feel through detailed plans tailored to local conditions."
