Held at Sanseo Sports Park
A Festival Themed Around "Onions"
Sanseo-myeon in Jangsu County, North Jeolla Province announced on September 4 that it will hold the "6th Sanseo Hope Rainbow Festival" themed around "onions" at the Sanseo Sports Park area from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on September 6.
The Sanseo Hope Rainbow Festival began by comparing the representative agricultural products produced in Sanseo-myeon to the colors of the rainbow. It is a flagship event where local residents directly participate in everything from program planning to operation, fostering community unity.
On the day of the event, the morning will feature a pungmuldan parade, children's samulnori performance, and a local community band performance to set the mood. In the afternoon, festivities will continue with an "onion peeling contest," performances by local clubs, guest singer performances (Na Junguk and Kim Deokgeon), and a resident singing contest, creating a lively festival atmosphere.
This year's festival will showcase unique foods made from Sanseo's high-quality onions, known for their excellent storability, such as onion gochujang, onion jam, and onion hummus. There will also be a "free onion giveaway" event for visitors.
Additionally, a variety of experience booths will be available for all ages, including mug decorating, making air fresheners, sticker photos, and tattoo experiences. There will also be programs such as local agricultural product sales, an environmental campaign, and beauty and hairdressing volunteer services, all designed to be resident-friendly.
Festival committee chair Ko Donggeum said, "We have worked hard to prepare so that not only local residents but also visitors to the festival can enjoy themselves. I hope many people will come to the festival and have a wonderful time."
Sanseo-myeon chief Shin Jiho commented, "I am pleased that the Sanseo Hope Rainbow Festival is establishing itself as a representative agricultural festival. As we have prepared diligently together with Sanseo-myeon residents, we will do our best to ensure the festival concludes safely and without incident."
