The Passion and Dedication of Gangwon Arts Blossoms in Taebaek... 63rd Gangwon Arts Festival Opens

Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Lee Sangho) announced that the 63rd Gangwon Arts Festival, commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the Gangwon Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations, will be held throughout Taebaek from September 4 to September 30.

This year's Gangwon Arts Festival will be held under the theme "63 Years of the Gangwon Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations! Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Running Again with the Power of Art." The festival will feature a variety of programs, including exhibitions, performances, and competitions, creating a cultural and artistic space for all citizens to enjoy together.


The festival will kick off with the Gangwon Art Association Members' Exhibition and the Gangwon Architectural Drawing Exhibition, held at the Taebaek Culture and Arts Center Exhibition Hall from September 4 to September 15.


On September 5, which marks the official start of the festival, the Gangwon Artists Conference will be held at the Taebaek Culture and Arts Center, where awards will be presented to artists who have contributed to the development of local culture and the arts. On the same day at 7:30 p.m., a special concert featuring soprano Min Eunhong and singer Hong Jiyoon will take place at Taebaek Culture Square, presenting a stage that combines Korean traditional music, popular entertainment, music, theater, and dance.


On September 6 at 7:30 p.m., the Gangwon Housewives Song Festival will be held at Taebaek Culture Square. On September 7 at 6:00 p.m., the Gangwon Concert will take place at the Hwangji Pond outdoor stage. On September 12, the Gangwon Theater Festival will be performed twice at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Taebaek Culture and Arts Center, followed by the Gangwon Korean Traditional Music Competition at the same venue on September 13 at 10:00 a.m. On September 20, the Gangwon Community Arts Festival will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Gangwon Dance Festival at 7:30 p.m.


In addition, from September 18 to September 30, the Gangwon Love Poetry & Painting Exhibition and the Gangwon Photo Exhibition will be held at the Taebaek Culture and Arts Center Exhibition Hall. During the same period, a special exhibition titled "The Great Inca Road" will showcase 34 works that capture the history and value of the Inca civilization.


Lee Jaehan, President of the Gangwon Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations, stated, "The performances and exhibitions prepared by our nine member organizations will be held throughout Taebaek. The 63rd Gangwon Arts Festival will be a meaningful occasion to share the passion and dedication of Gangwon artists with the residents of the province."


Lee Sangho, Mayor of Taebaek City, remarked, "Hosting the Gangwon Arts Festival in Taebaek will be an opportunity to elevate the status of our region's culture and arts. I hope that all citizens and residents of the province will come together to experience the power of art and enjoy a festival of unity."
