Doosan Enerbility Opens Nation’s First Wind Power Control Tower in Jeju

Maximizing Efficiency and Uptime Through Real-Time Control
Minimizing Malfunctions and Boosting Power Output
Expanding the Domestic Market with Experience from Jeju

Doosan Enerbility has established the nation’s first integrated wind turbine control center in Jeju Province and officially commenced operations. The center serves as a “control tower,” monitoring and controlling wind turbines across the country in real time, 24 hours a day, to minimize malfunctions and maximize power generation efficiency.

On September 3, Doosan Enerbility announced the opening of the Doosan Wind Power Center (WPC) in Ora-dong, Jeju City. This center will oversee the integrated management of wind turbines nationwide. The opening ceremony was attended by key figures including Oh Young-hoon, Governor of Jeju Province; Lee Sang-bong, Chairman of the Jeju Provincial Council; Kim Beom-sik, Director of the Renewable Energy Center at the Korea Energy Agency; Jung Yeon-in, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility; as well as local residents.

The center is a two-story building with a total floor area of 496 square meters (approximately 150 pyeong), marking the first time a domestic wind turbine manufacturer has established an integrated control center for remote technical support. Doosan Enerbility will provide real-time, 24-hour control of wind turbines nationwide under its operation and maintenance contracts. By analyzing operational data, the center can detect early signs of abnormalities, reduce breakdowns, and increase operational uptime. As a result, it is expected to boost power output and ensure stable operations.

Vice Chairman Jung Yeon-in stated, “It is meaningful to open the Doosan Wind Power Center in Jeju, where the nation’s first offshore wind farm was established. We will contribute to the growth of the domestic wind power ecosystem.”

Doosan Enerbility began its wind power business in 2005 and has supplied wind turbines with a total capacity of 347.5 MW in South Korea. The company holds the nation’s highest track record, having executed major offshore wind projects such as Tamra in Jeju (30 MW) in 2017, Southwest Offshore in Jeonbuk (60 MW) in 2019, and Hallim in Jeju (100 MW) scheduled for 2025. In July, Doosan Enerbility also secured international certification for its self-developed 10 MW-class offshore wind turbine, further strengthening its technological competitiveness.
