Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province is set to host the "2025 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival" on September 17, which is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and enhancing the city’s brand as a global tourist destination by encompassing defense industry exhibitions, wellness experiences, and large-scale performances and exhibitions.

The Gyeryong City Culture and Tourism Foundation (Chairman: Lee Eungwoo) announced at a press briefing held in the city hall’s main conference room on the 3rd that four major events-"2025 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival," "Ground Forces Festival," "Wellness Life," and "K-GDEX (Gyeryong Defense Industry Exhibition)"-will take place on September 17.

This year’s festival aims to maximize economic impact as the nation’s largest convergence festival, where the military and the public come together, by expanding the participation of defense companies and family-oriented experiences.

In particular, K-GDEX will see the participation of major domestic defense industry conglomerates and small to medium-sized enterprises, including Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, LIG Nex1, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Hyundai Rotem, and Kia.

Through weapons exhibitions, technology presentations, consultations, and new product showcases, industrial exchange will be invigorated, providing an opportunity for Gyeryong City to emerge as a strategic hub for the defense industry.

The combination of military culture and wellness life also stands out. The wellness exhibition hall, defense and extreme experience halls, and expanded family-focused programs are expected to increase visitor stay time, directly boosting sales across local sectors such as accommodation, dining, and transportation.

Mayor Lee Eungwoo stated, "Through this integrated festival, we will create a platform for unity and communication between the military and the public, while also laying the foundation for revitalizing the local economy and advancing as a global tourism and industrial city. We will focus all administrative resources on ensuring the festival’s success."

Meanwhile, the "2025 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival" will be held from September 17 to 21 for five days at the Gyeryongdae Airstrip and throughout the city.
