Accident Occurs While Replacing Light Bulb Inside Concrete Mixing Tank
Police: "Suspected Electrocution... Investigating Exact Circumstances"
A worker in his 20s collapsed and died while working at a ready-mix concrete factory in Yulchon-myeon, Yeosu, South Jeolla Province.
According to the Yeosu Fire Department and other authorities on September 3, at around 5 p.m. the previous day, a worker in his 20s, identified as A, lost consciousness while replacing a light bulb inside a concrete mixing tank (mixer) at the Geumnam Industry ready-mix concrete factory in Chwijeok-ri, Yulchon-myeon.
A colleague working with him called 119, prompting rescue teams to respond. A received CPR and was transported to a nearby hospital, but ultimately passed away.
The fire authorities deployed 22 personnel and 6 pieces of equipment for the rescue operation. Other workers present at the scene were confirmed to be unharmed.
The police believe that electrocution is the likely cause of the accident and are investigating the exact circumstances.
