Kyungpook National University (President Huh Youngwoo) will admit 4,510 students, which is 81.2% of the total 5,554 available spots, through the early admission process for the 2026 academic year.
The number of students to be admitted by each type of screening is as follows: 2,134 through the School Record-Based Screening, 1,621 through the Comprehensive School Record Screening, 554 through the Essay (AAT) Screening, 190 through the Practical/Performance (Arts and Physical Education) Screening, and 11 through the Special Talent (Athletics) Screening.
Starting from the 2026 academic year, Kyungpook National University will remove the restriction that limited the 'Academic Excellence Screening' and 'Regional Talent Basic Livelihood Recipient Screening' within the School Record-Based Screening to only those who graduated within the past three years. Now, anyone can apply regardless of their high school graduation year.
The university will also relax the requirements for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), abolishing the designated test subject requirements for mathematics and social/science inquiry areas for all departments except for the Mobile Engineering major.
Additionally, the Department of Physical Education will newly introduce a practical skills screening process.
The School Record-Based Screening will select students by combining 80% from school records and 20% from document evaluation.
For both graduates and prospective graduates, grades up to the first semester of the third year will be considered, without any weighting for each grade level.
The subjects reflected in the school record are Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science, and Korean History for both Humanities and Natural Sciences tracks. For Arts and Physical Education tracks, Science is excluded from these subjects.
The College of Ecology and Environmental Science, College of Science and Technology, and the Department of Autonomous Future Talent (excluding Arts and Physical Education tracks) will consider the 10 subjects with the highest grades among Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science, and Korean History.
Unlike the Comprehensive School Record Screening, the document evaluation for the School Record-Based Screening will assess the completion of basic courses and the appropriateness of subject completion by academic track.
The Comprehensive School Record Screening is divided into the 'Single Round Combined Screening Method' and the 'Stepwise Screening Method.'
The Single Round Combined Screening Method selects students based solely on 100% document evaluation, while the Stepwise Screening Method combines document evaluation in the first stage and then combines 70% document evaluation and 30% interview in the second stage.
However, for the Mobile Science Talent Screening, the second stage will consist of 50% document evaluation and 50% interview.
The document evaluation for the Comprehensive School Record Screening assesses academic competency, career competency, and community competency, with detailed evaluation criteria varying by screening type and department.
The Essay (AAT) Screening will select students by combining 70% from the essay (AAT) and 30% from the school record.
The school record subjects reflected for both Humanities and Natural Sciences tracks are Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science, and Korean History.
For the Essay (AAT), Humanities track questions will be integrated across subjects (such as Korean, humanities, and social sciences) and will consist of approximately six questions.
For Natural Sciences Track I, there will be approximately three questions from Mathematics (Mathematics, Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Calculus) and integrated science subjects (Integrated Science, Physics I, Chemistry I, Biology I, Earth Science I, etc.). For Natural Sciences Track II, there will be approximately three questions from Mathematics (Mathematics, Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Calculus) and medical essay (Integrated Science, Biology I, Biology II, etc.).
Applications can only be submitted online through the Kyungpook National University application website from 9:00 a.m. on the 8th to 6:00 p.m. on the 12th.
Interviews for the Comprehensive School Record Screening will be held on Saturday, November 15, and the Essay (AAT) test will be held on Saturday, November 22.
