On the 2nd, Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, announced during a briefing at the Yongsan presidential office that President Lee will attend the high-level meeting of the 80th UN General Assembly, which will be held in New York, USA, on the 23rd. President Lee is scheduled to deliver the seventh keynote speech during the first session, which will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. local time on the 23rd, and his speech will last for 15 minutes.

The UN General Assembly is the world's largest multilateral diplomatic stage, held every year for one week starting on the third Tuesday of September, and attended by top officials from 193 member states. Through his keynote address, President Lee plans to share the Republic of Korea's path to overcoming challenges in democracy and to present the government's vision and policies on global issues, including matters related to the Korean Peninsula. Spokesperson Kang stated, "We plan to strengthen solidarity with the international community and carry out various diplomatic activities to elevate our status as a responsible global power," adding, "This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, making it a particularly significant year in which international attention will be more focused than ever."

On the 24th, President Lee will also preside over a high-level open debate on AI as the chair of the UN Security Council. This marks the first time a Korean president will do so, as Korea assumes the presidency of the Security Council for the month of September.

Additionally, at a cabinet meeting held at the Yongsan presidential office on the same day, President Lee called for bold solutions to raise the potential growth rate, which has fallen to around 1 percent. President Lee said, "Industrial production, consumption, and facility investment have all shifted to an upward trend, and retail sales, boosted by consumption coupons, have seen the largest increase in 29 months." However, he cautioned, "If we do not raise the potential growth rate, any policy will only have a temporary effect."

President Lee further stated, "Please quickly establish and implement a comprehensive, government-wide strategy that encompasses support for innovation in new technologies, regulatory reform, industrial restructuring, and talent development, using active fiscal policy and productive finance as the two main drivers." He added, "I hope you will prepare bold solutions without being constrained by any limitations."

Furthermore, regarding the amendments to the Commercial Act and the Yellow Envelope Act included in the legislative agenda at the cabinet meeting, President Lee emphasized the need for mutual respect and cooperation among all market participants, including labor and management, to uphold the legislative intent. President Lee said, "As I often say, a bird flies with both wings. Both business and labor are important," adding, "We must not take sides. In correcting one problem, we must not make the mistake of causing a greater one." He also urged the relevant ministries to ensure thorough follow-up measures.

Meanwhile, President Lee received work reports from relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and held discussions on the topic of the 'national growth strategy.'
