"Silent Light, Gap of Ecstasy" Exhibition
33 Out of 35 Works Unveiled for the First Time
Opening Reception on the 2nd, Artist Talk on the 4th
On September 2, Hoban Cultural Foundation of Hoban Group announced that it will present the first solo exhibition in Korea of Italian contemporary artist Alessandro Sicioldr, titled "Silent Light, Gap of Ecstasy," at Hoban Atrium in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Alessandro Sicioldr has gained international attention for his works that combine classical painting techniques with dreamlike imagination. In an era where images are easily generated, his paintings are completed with thousands of brushstrokes, prompting viewers to reconsider the essence of painting. In a modern society that prioritizes industry, technology, and efficiency, Sicioldr guides the audience into a world of immersion within his works through moments of slowness and contemplation.
This exhibition features a total of 35 works, including 33 new pieces unveiled for the first time at Hoban Atrium. "La Grande Notte," a large canvas measuring 3 meters in width, depicts the moment when figures in a desert encounter a radiant presence, conveying hope that has yet to arrive. "Lo Sposalizio" invites viewers to reflect on inner balance through two figures facing different realities. "L'Insegnante" and "Il Tesoro" capture majestic and mysterious scenes, naturally drawing the audience into the artist's world. The artist presents traces of time layered upon each other, offering a different perspective on life.
A representative from Hoban Atrium stated, "This exhibition is an opportunity to set aside familiar perspectives and ways of thinking, to confront the fundamental questions posed by the medium of painting, and to explore one's inner self. We hope visitors will savor the works in moments of slowness and contemplation, and personally experience a time of imagination and reflection."
The artist, who visited Korea for this exhibition, will participate in the opening reception on September 2 and an artist talk on September 4.
