‘Festa! Retro60: Dapsimni’ to Be Held from September 12 to 14

“2025 Festa! Retro60: Dapsimni,” an event that reinterprets the Dapsimni Comprehensive Film Studio-the heart of Korean cinema in the 1960s-through a modern lens, will be held from September 12 to 14 at the Dapsimni Film Media Art Center.

Under the slogan “Beyond Boundaries, The Newest 1960,” the festival will offer a diverse array of interactive sessions where directors, actors, critics, live narrators, and audiences can communicate directly.


Main programs include a guest talk (GV) with actors Kwon Hae-hyo and Ha Sung-guk and director Hong Sang-soo about his latest film “In Our Day,” as well as a GV featuring director Kim Min-ha and actors Kang Shin-hee and Jung Ha-dam for “Amoeba Girls and School Ghost Story: School Anniversary.”


Additionally, director Kim Hong-jun and critic Joo Sung-chul will explore the historical significance of the Dapsimni Film Studio in the “Film Talk” session, while “Idols on Screen” will cover the history of stardom from the 1960s Kim Sisters to virtual idols.


For Generation Z, “Yeongo TV Career Exploration Life” will feature the popular educational creator Yeongo TV, who will discuss future careers and skills. There will also be a live narration performance for the silent film “The Prosecutor and the Lady Teacher,” a mime performance titled “An Invitation from Charlie Chaplin,” and a film OST concert by the Dongdapcho Children’s Orchestra called “Cinekids Film Concert.”


The Dongdaemun Cultural Foundation expressed its anticipation, stating, “This festival will allow filmmakers and audiences to communicate and empathize across the boundaries of time,” and added, “It will be a meaningful experience connecting the past, present, and future of Korean cinema.”
