The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art announced on September 1 that, in celebration of the 2025 Korea Art Festival Week, it will hold the eco-friendly art museum market 'MMCA Market' and the nighttime cultural event 'MMCA Night' on September 4 at the outdoor museum yard of the Seoul branch.

'MMCA Market' is a signature cultural event of the museum, continuously held since 2019 in the open-air museum yard, the central axis of the Seoul branch's architecture. The event features a variety of booths, talks, workshops, and activities organized by eco-friendly small business owners, attracting over 10,000 visitors each time.

This year, the market is divided into six zones with about 55 vendors: the 'Farm Produce Zone' selling fresh seasonal produce and eco-friendly foods grown by farmers themselves; the 'Eco Zone' featuring plants and artworks; the 'Design Zone' offering sustainable lifestyle goods and handicrafts; the 'Food Zone' serving dishes and beverages that capture the flavors of seasonal foods, including vegetarian options; the 'Art Book Zone' with curated art books, related merchandise, and rare book exhibitions; and the 'Campaign Zone' offering experiences such as climate crisis-themed silk screen printing and Brita water. In line with the market's sustainability mission, the first 100 participants who bring their own tableware and receive certification at the information booth will be given an eco-friendly 'bandana handkerchief' as a gift.

As a side event, at 11:30 a.m., Hyuna Kim, CEO of Mindful Gardeners, will share her experiences of gardening as a way to care for the Earth, going beyond a simple hobby. At 4:00 p.m., architect Hyunjoon Min, who designed the Seoul branch, will discuss the stories behind the building's design and its transformation into a space for citizens to experience new art. Each session is limited to 30 participants, and registration is available on the museum's website. Pre-registered attendees will receive a small souvenir.

Additionally, at 7:30 p.m., 'MMCA Night - Boundaryless' will take place on the main stage in the center of the museum yard. On this autumn night in Samcheong-dong, where the art festival unfolds, the museum will be filled with the diverse sounds of young musicians who are breaking genre boundaries and establishing their own unique musical worlds.

This year's 'MMCA Night - Boundaryless' will open with a DJ performance by electronic music producer Yetsuby, winner of Best Electronic Album at the 2024 Korean Music Awards. This will be followed by the dreamy vocals and artistic performance of CIFIKA, a singer, producer, and audio-visual artist who has made a strong impression both in Korea and abroad. The event will conclude with a dynamic performance by up-and-coming band jisokuryclub, who are pioneering new genres such as 'Camping Rock' and 'Fishing Pop' and bringing fresh inspiration to the Korean music scene. The event is an outdoor standing concert, free and open to everyone without reservation.

Meanwhile, on September 4, the day of the MMCA Market, all exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will be open to the public free of charge as part of the '2025 Korea Art Festival' Art Travel Week. In addition to the usual late openings on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the museum will also be open until 9 p.m. on Thursday.

More details can be found on the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art website.

Sunghee Kim, Director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, stated, "At the beginning of September, when the art festival brings excitement, this is an event where everyone can enjoy diverse culture and art without boundaries at the Seoul branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. I hope the public will fully enjoy the art festival, along with highlights of Korean contemporary art such as the permanent exhibition of Korean Modern Art Highlights, the Kim Tschang-Yeul exhibition, and the Artist of the Year Award exhibition."
