On August 31, the People Power Party appointed Jeong Heeyong, a two-term lawmaker, as the new Secretary-General, and Kim Doeup, a four-term lawmaker, as the new Policy Committee Chair.
Choi Boyoon, Chief Spokesperson of the People Power Party, announced these appointments to reporters at the National Assembly on the same day. The Secretary-General is a key position responsible for overseeing the party's overall operations, including finances and personnel authority.
Assemblyman Jeong represents the Goryeong-Seongju-Chilgok district in North Gyeongsang Province and is serving his second term. He previously served as Chief of Staff to former Floor Leader Chu Kyungho, who was part of the pro-Yoon Sukyeol faction.
Assemblyman Kim represents the Gangseo district in Busan and is serving his fourth term. He is regarded as having weak factional ties.
The Secretary-General is appointed after consultation with the Supreme Council, while the Policy Committee Chair is appointed with the approval of the general assembly of lawmakers.
