Rain to Expand to Seoul Metropolitan Area and Inland/Mountainous Gangwon at Night
Daytime Highs to Reach 30 to 35 Degrees Celsius
On Sunday, the 31st, the entire country is expected to be mostly cloudy, with heavy rain and showers accompanied by thunder and lightning in most regions.
The rain, which will begin in Jeju Island in the early hours of the morning, will spread to the southern regions by the morning and expand to the Seoul metropolitan area and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province from nighttime. Showers are expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region from dawn to the afternoon, with some parts of inland Gangwon and North Chungcheong experiencing rain until the evening.
The expected rainfall from the 31st to September 1st over two days is 30 to 80 millimeters for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region; 20 to 60 millimeters for Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province; and 10 to 60 millimeters for the west coast of North Jeolla Province, the coastal and eastern inland areas of South Jeolla Province, and Jeju Island. In eastern South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island, rainfall could reach up to 80 millimeters.
Elsewhere, Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province are expected to receive 5 to 60 millimeters of rain, while the central inland areas of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, as well as inland North Jeolla Province, will see 5 to 40 millimeters. Showers are expected to bring 5 to 60 millimeters of rain to the Seoul metropolitan area and the Chungcheong region, and 5 to 40 millimeters to the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province.
Morning lows will range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs will be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius, higher than the seasonal average. The minimum and maximum temperatures by region are as follows: Seoul (25 to 31 degrees), Incheon (25 to 31 degrees), Chuncheon (23 to 32 degrees), Daejeon (24 to 33 degrees), Gwangju (25 to 32 degrees), Daegu (25 to 34 degrees), Ulsan (24 to 31 degrees), Busan (26 to 31 degrees), and Jeju Island (26 to 32 degrees).
Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at a 'good' level nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion and the effects of rainfall.
Waves in the seas are forecast to be 0.5 to 1.0 meters high in the coastal waters of the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea. In the offshore areas (up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the South Sea.
