The Gimpo Environmental Regeneration Innovation Complex successfully passed the preliminary feasibility study in April of last year and is currently undergoing a project strategy development service. This project aims not only to purify and restore the environment but also to establish a leading model for environmental regeneration that pursues carbon neutrality. Its goals include revitalizing the local economy through the creation of an eco-friendly future industrial cluster and restoring the local community.

On this day, Minister of Environment Kim Seonghwan, together with Mayor Kim Byungsu, personally inspected the planned site of the Gimpo Environmental Regeneration Innovation Complex. He stated, "We will transform the polluted area of Geomuldaeri in Gimpo into an eco-friendly city and make it a model case that leads to local economic revitalization. We will also closely communicate and cooperate with the local community throughout the implementation of the project."

Mayor Kim Byungsu emphasized, "The Gimpo Environmental Regeneration Innovation Complex is a crucial project that will drive the healthy development of the region by addressing environmental issues and securing future growth engines as two main pillars. It will also have a significant impact on revitalizing the economy of the western region. Gimpo City will actively cooperate with relevant agencies to take the lead as an eco-friendly future city in Korea."

Through this project, Gimpo City plans to create a future-oriented innovation cluster based on a fourth industrial complex, along with adequate residential spaces, to attract outstanding companies and drive sustainable growth. Upon completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 16.2 trillion won in production inducement effects and create 119,000 jobs. It is also projected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents through environmental restoration.

The total project cost is 5.752 trillion won, and the project will be carried out on a site of approximately 1.49 million pyeong (4,919,000 square meters) from 2023 to 2033. The plan is to designate the urban development zone in December 2026, obtain implementation plan approval in 2028, begin site construction in 2029, and complete the construction by 2033.
