With this achievement, the county will establish 30 electric vehicle charging stations across 19 public facilities and major tourist attractions within its jurisdiction, laying the groundwork for transitioning to future transportation infrastructure.
The "Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project" is a national support program in which local governments and private charging service providers form a consortium to expand charging infrastructure tailored to local conditions.
Yecheon County secured this project in partnership with the private charging specialist company iParking Co., Ltd. Since the project will be funded solely by national subsidies and private investment, there will be no financial burden on the county. This is being recognized as a model case for achieving both local fiscal soundness and eco-friendly policies.
Through this project, the county aims to resolve obstacles to electric vehicle adoption caused by insufficient charging infrastructure. In the long term, it also expects to enhance convenience for tourists and revitalize the local economy.
Lee Okki, Director of the Environmental Management Division of Yecheon County, stated, "This project goes beyond simply expanding charging facilities; it is a strategic investment that simultaneously improves residents' living environments and addresses the climate crisis. We will ensure flawless implementation so that Yecheon County can establish itself as a leading city for eco-friendly transportation."
Once the 30 electric vehicle charging stations are installed, Yecheon County will secure a well-balanced charging network covering urban areas, rural regions, and tourist destinations. This will directly contribute to national goals such as greenhouse gas reduction and carbon neutrality, and is expected to serve as a concrete step toward realizing the vision of a "sustainable Yecheon."
