"Complaint Demands Disciplinary Action for 'Underwear Photo'... Female Weightlifter Responds: 'Must Be a Social Misfit'"

Complainant Claims "Damaged Image Due to Underwear Photo"
Athlete Responds, "What Business Is It of Yours"... Expresses Strong Displeasure

A complaint has been filed demanding severe disciplinary action over a photo of abs posted by weightlifter Park Sumin, who is affiliated with Pocheon City Hall, on her personal social networking service (SNS). In response, the athlete expressed strong displeasure.

Pocheon City Hall announced on the 29th that, on the 23rd, it received a complaint via the National Sinmungo portal from a citizen who claimed, "A city hall-affiliated athlete posted a photo in underwear on Instagram, damaging the city hall's image," and demanded strict disciplinary action.

The complainant attached several screenshots of Park Sumin's photos, arguing, "There is no reason to sign a contract with such a person."

The photo in question, which the complainant raised an issue with, was posted by Park Sumin in October of last year. In the photo, she is topless and wearing short bottoms, revealing her abs while sharing her body composition test results.

Upon learning about the complaint, Park Sumin immediately expressed her displeasure on SNS. She responded, "You must be very diligent to capture each photo and file a complaint," and added, "We are just members of the workplace sports team, not actual civil servants, and the city hall doesn't care either."

She also directed harsh words at the complainant, saying, "What business is it of yours? You must be a social misfit," and even included a middle finger emoji.

The current "Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of the Pocheon City Hall Workplace Sports Team" stipulate that affiliated athletes are required to maintain dignity. Violations can result in disciplinary actions such as dismissal, removal, suspension, or pay cuts.

However, there is an interpretation that the photo posted by Park Sumin was simply a daily record of her athletic achievements, with no sexual or provocative intent, and therefore does not constitute a violation of the obligation to maintain dignity.

In fact, online reactions have been mostly critical of the complaint, with comments such as "It's absurd," "Many people post body profile photos, so what part of these photos violates the obligation to maintain dignity?" and "Some people really have nothing better to do."

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Pocheon City Hall is currently reviewing the facts and whether any regulations were violated after officially receiving the complaint.
