According to AFP, a large-scale Russian attack on several cities in central and southeastern Ukraine left at least one person dead.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Telegram, "Overnight, the enemy carried out a large-scale attack on Zaporizhzhia." Authorities stated that at least one person was killed and 16 others, including two children, were injured. It was confirmed that various facilities, including residential houses, industrial sites, and gas stations, were destroyed.
This attack occurred ahead of the deadline for a ceasefire agreement proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Previously, on August 18, President Trump met with President Zelensky and European leaders at the White House and stated that a summit between Putin and Zelensky could take place within two weeks. This means the meeting deadline for the two warring countries is September 1.
