[Weather] Sunday Rain with Thunder and Lightning... Seoul Highs Up to 31 Degrees Yonhap News

On Sunday, the 31st, most regions across the country are expected to experience rain accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning.

Rain is forecast to begin in Jeju Island in the early hours of the morning, spread to the southern regions from the morning, and reach the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region from the night. The rain is expected to continue into the following day.

In the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region, showers are expected to fall between the early morning and afternoon, with some parts of North Chungcheong Province experiencing showers into the evening.

Expected precipitation amounts are 30 to 80 millimeters for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, and the Chungcheong region; 20 to 80 millimeters for Busan, the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province, and areas near Jirisan; 10 to 60 millimeters for the southern coast of South Jeolla Province, Ulsan, inland areas of South Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island; and 5 to 40 millimeters for Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, North Jeolla Province, Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo. However, the east coast of Gangwon Province, which is currently experiencing drought, is expected to receive only about 5 millimeters of rain.

Morning low temperatures are forecast to range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs are expected to reach 30 to 34 degrees Celsius, which is higher than the seasonal average.

With heat wave advisories in effect for most regions nationwide, the maximum perceived temperature is expected to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, especially in South Jeolla Province and South Gyeongsang Province. The heat is expected to persist, with tropical nights occurring in urban and coastal areas.

Gusty winds, thunder, and lightning are also expected over the West Sea, South Sea, and the waters around Jeju Island, so caution is advised to prevent maritime safety accidents.
