Jeonnam Province is widely promoting the tradition, modernity, and future value of Korean ink wash painting to the world by holding a two-day event until the 30th, inviting foreign diplomatic envoys in Korea to strengthen the international status of the 2025 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale and to raise overseas interest.

A total of 22 people, including ambassadors and cultural center directors from 13 countries such as Peru, Ukraine, and Poland, attended the event.

On August 29, the diplomatic envoys in Korea visited the Mokpo Culture & Arts Center and Mokpo Indoor Gymnasium to view the Sumukh Biennale exhibition, appreciating the diverse world of contemporary ink wash art.

They then attended the opening ceremony, commemorating the moment with key domestic and international figures and visitors. At the welcome dinner, participants enjoyed Haechang Makgeolli and fig sorbet, local specialties of Jeonnam Province, fostering exchange and unity.

Myung Changhwan, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province, expressed his gratitude in his dinner speech, saying, "I thank the diplomatic envoys in Korea for taking the time to join us at the Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale. I hope this invitation event will further strengthen exchange and friendship between Jeonnam and each country."

On the 30th, the group will visit the Jindo Namdo Traditional Art Museum, Unrimsanbang, Ttangkkeut Literature Museum and Nokudang in Haenam, experiencing the essence of Korean ink wash painting in spaces rich with Jeonnam’s history and culture.

The 2025 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale, under the theme "Neighbors of Civilization," will feature 83 artists (teams) from 20 countries, presenting a variety of works that transcend the boundaries between traditional ink wash painting and contemporary art. The exhibition will run until October 31 across Mokpo, Jindo, Haenam, and other areas of Jeonnam Province, with various hands-on programs and academic events also taking place.

In addition to the Sumukh Biennale, Jeonnam Province will host a series of mega events, including the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo and the International Agricultural Expo in October.

The 2025 Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo will be held from October 1 to 26 in the area around the Mokpo Culture & Arts Center. As the first international event themed around gastronomy in Korea, it will showcase the value and industrial potential of Namdo cuisine. Further details can be found on the official expo website.

The 2025 International Agricultural Expo, under the theme "Agriculture Changes the World: Agricultural Innovation with AI, K-Agriculture Nurturing Life," will take place from October 23 to 29 at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services. The event will serve as an innovative venue for agricultural exhibitions and experiences encompassing emotion, the future, and internationalization, drawing high expectations from domestic and international agricultural professionals and visitors.
