"Creating a Safe and Bright Living Environment"

Boseong County, South Jeolla Province, announced on the 29th that, as part of the "Smart On Village 600 Project," solar-powered LED lighting fixtures were installed in 25 households of vulnerable groups on the 28th. The initiative was carried out through the joint efforts of the Welfare and Safety Council, the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit, and the Our Neighborhood Welfare Mobile Unit.

This project was designed to create a safer walking environment for elderly residents and those with limited mobility who live in homes without outdoor lighting or in particularly dark surroundings. Beyond simply installing lighting, the project also included welfare checks and safety inspections for the elderly, adding further significance to the initiative.

The installed solar-powered LED lighting fixtures automatically turn on at night by utilizing solar energy stored during the day. This is expected not only to ensure pedestrian safety and prevent accidents on dark roads, but also to help expand welfare services that residents can directly experience.

An Jaeseob, Chairman of the Welfare and Safety Council, said, "Although it may be a small light, it brings great reassurance to the elderly," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in promoting safety and welfare in the community."

An Junhyeon, Head of the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit, also stated, "This will provide practical help in preventing safety accidents involving the elderly," and added, "We will continue our efforts to make Boseong-eup a safer place through ongoing activities."

Kim Kisung, Mayor of Boseong-eup, commented, "This project, which combines welfare and safety, is a practical, community-based policy that residents can truly feel," and added, "We will continue to build a robust safety and welfare network through public-private cooperation in the future."
