Meeting with Member Companies
The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Koo Choongon, hereafter referred to as the Gwangyang FEZ Authority) met with Gao Chen, Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and executives at the agency's situation room on the 29th to introduce the investment environment of the Gwangyang Bay Area and discuss measures to revitalize investment in the economy and trade.
The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Korea is an economic organization composed of 225 member companies, including global corporations such as Huawei, BYD, and the Bank of China. The South Jeolla Branch was established in 2021, and this visit by the executive board has served as an opportunity to raise interest in the industrial potential of the Gwangyang Bay Area.

On this day, Chairman Gao Chen stated, "The Gwangyang Bay Area is a leading industrial hub in Korea, where ports, industrial complexes, and geographical advantages are concentrated. It is an attractive investment destination that offers new opportunities for Chinese companies. We will strive to help Chinese businesspeople discover more business possibilities in the Gwangyang Bay Area."
Commissioner Koo Choongon said, "The Gwangyang Bay Area is the most active region for Chinese investment in Korea. We will continue to provide active support to ensure that foreign-invested companies in our region do not face any difficulties in their operations. I hope that the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which is at the forefront of economic cooperation between the two countries, will maintain its interest in the Gwangyang Bay Area and further expand investment cooperation."
The executive board arrived in Gwangyang the previous day, held a meeting with member companies of the South Jeolla Branch, and visited member companies such as HAM, an infant formula manufacturer, and Kingtops, a hygiene product manufacturer, to tour their production lines.
