Built-in Design and Powerful Steam Features
Two New Robot Vacuums Unveiled to Capture the European Market
AI-Powered Object Recognition for Enhanced Cleaning and Hygiene
LG Electronics will unveil its new lineup of robot vacuum cleaners at Europe's largest home appliance exhibition. As global appliance companies such as Roborock from China make their appearance, LG aims to target the European market by emphasizing differentiated design and performance.
On August 28, LG Electronics announced that it will introduce new robot vacuum cleaners featuring a built-in design and powerful steam functions at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2025, which opens on September 5 in Berlin, Germany. The new lineup includes two models: the built-in "Hidden Station," which is only visible when in use, and the freestanding "Objet Station."

The Hidden Station can be installed in the baseboard area of the kitchen sink, which is typically a dead space such as behind doors or in corners. When not in use, the vacuum cleaner is concealed within the station. LG Electronics explained that, in pursuit of "extreme minimalism," it applied an air pump that discharges wastewater using air pressure, instead of the conventional method of rotating blades, to reduce the volume of components inside the station. As a result of this newly designed, high-density integration of parts, the station's height has been reduced from the conventional 50 cm to 15 cm.
The Objet Station adopts a table design that can blend seamlessly into any space. Not only does the robot vacuum fit completely inside the station, making it invisible, but it can also be harmoniously installed in spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms.

Both new models automatically handle dust suction, mopping, and the washing and drying of used mops. Notably, for the first time in the world, both the main unit and the station are equipped with steam functions, enhancing both performance and hygiene management.
The robot vacuum generates steam in real time by boiling water in the main unit and directly spraying it onto the mop. This allows for the effective removal of dried, stubborn stains and grease. The station sterilizes the mop with steam for improved hygiene. A turbidity sensor has also been installed in the station to measure water contamination and automatically adjust the number of washes. Depending on the contamination level, users can select cleaning options such as cold water, hot water, or steam.
LG Electronics' proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) object recognition technology is embedded in the robot vacuum's navigation system. Using an AI chip, LiDAR, 3D camera, ultrasonic sensors, bumpers, and other sensors, the device precisely detects its surroundings and obstacles for optimal cleaning. For example, in kitchens where food crumbs are likely to fall, it moves more densely and increases suction power. A line laser sensor has been added to the side, enabling recognition of obstacles on the floor such as wires.

In addition, the new models are smart enough to clean all areas except carpets first, then return to the station to automatically detach the mop, and finally clean only the carpeted areas. When a carpet is detected, the vacuum adjusts its suction port structure to adhere closely to the floor for more effective dust collection. Convenience has also been enhanced with features such as the LG ThinQ app settings and voice recognition capabilities.
Furthermore, LG Electronics plans to unveil new cordless stick vacuum cleaners, including a "suction-only" model with top-tier suction power, and a "Wet & Dry" model capable of simultaneously vacuuming dust and liquids while mopping.
Kwak Doyoung, Executive Vice President and Head of the Living Solution Business Division at LG Electronics' Home Solution Business Headquarters, emphasized, "With designs that reflect customer feedback and upgraded cleaning performance, we will offer a differentiated customer experience in the global market."
Meanwhile, according to a June report by market research firm IDC, Roborock ranked first in global robot vacuum market share in the first quarter of this year with 19.3%. Ecovacs followed with 13.6%, Dreame with 11.3%, Xiaomi with 9.9%, and iRobot with 9.3%. The top four companies dominating the global market are all Chinese firms.
