Bonghwa County Council Opens 274th Extraordinary Session

Focusing on Stabilizing Livelihoods and Resolving Local Issues
Through Review of Supplementary Budget and Ordinance Bills

The Bonghwa County Council in North Gyeongsang Province convened its 274th extraordinary session on the 27th, commencing a ten-day legislative period that will continue until September 5.

This extraordinary session is a significant period during which the council will review the second supplementary budget bill for 2025, as well as various ordinance and consent bills directly related to the daily lives of county residents.


◆ 15 Major Agenda Items Submitted... Multidimensional Discussions on Youth, Welfare, and Disaster Response

A total of 15 agenda items have been submitted, including the Bonghwa County Ordinance on Encouraging Organ and Human Tissue Donation, the Ordinance on Preventing and Supporting Damage from Heat Waves and Cold Waves, and the Youth Voucher Support Ordinance. These ordinances are drawing attention as they are directly linked to improving the quality of life for residents, expanding welfare, enhancing disaster response, and supporting youth.


On the first day’s plenary session, the council decided on the session period, formed the Special Budget and Accounts Committee, and proceeded with explanations of each agenda item.


In particular, Assemblyman Lee Seunghoon, during a five-minute free speech, emphasized the need for tourism policies utilizing Bonghwa’s pristine natural environment and cultural resources. He proposed strengthening the expertise of the Bonghwa Festival Tourism Foundation, fostering the traditional liquor industry, and expanding tourism linked to local specialties as alternatives.


◆ Intensive Review by the Special Budget Committee... Final Resolution on September 5

The Special Budget and Accounts Committee will meticulously review the supplementary budget proposals by department from August 28 to September 4. After completing the budget adjustment and secretary’s report on the 4th, the final resolution will be made at the plenary session on the last day, September 5.


Chairman Kwon Youngjun stated, "This extraordinary session is focused on stabilizing residents’ livelihoods and resolving local issues," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the review process for the supplementary budget and ordinances results in rational and practical legislative activities that all county residents can relate to."


Attention is focused on whether the Bonghwa County Council will be able to present policy solutions for stabilizing livelihoods and strengthening regional competitiveness through this extraordinary session.
