Mayor Shin Sangjin Attends Opening Ceremony of Wirye Eoullim Comprehensive Social Welfare Center
A Large-Scale Facility with Two Basement Floors, Six Above-Ground Floors, and a Swimming Pool
Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin attended the opening ceremony of the Wirye Eoullim Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, located in Changkok-dong, Sujeong-gu, on the afternoon of August 27, 2025.

The event was attended by a total of 300 people, including Mayor Shin Sangjin, provincial and city council members, officials from related organizations, 50 distinguished guests, as well as 250 local residents, users, and facility staff.
In his commemorative speech, Mayor Shin stated, "I sincerely congratulate the opening of the Wirye Eoullim Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, which has been a long-cherished wish of the residents in the Wirye area of Seongnam."
He continued, "I hope this welfare center will serve as a regional hub for welfare that embraces all generations, playing a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for residents and advancing the local community. Seongnam City will continue to efficiently manage the city’s finances and actively pursue essential projects for our citizens."
The event began with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by a donation ceremony in collaboration with POSCO Holdings, the mayor’s commemorative address, congratulatory remarks from key guests, and the unveiling ceremony.

After the ceremony, Mayor Shin toured the facility, inspecting the swimming pool (with five lanes)-the first of its kind among local social welfare centers-as well as the national and public daycare center, the community care center, and the daytime center for people with disabilities. He also attended a tea meeting to review the center’s operations and exchanged opinions with stakeholders.
The Wirye Eoullim Comprehensive Social Welfare Center is a large-scale welfare facility constructed by Seongnam City over the past three years, with a total project cost of 48 billion won. The center consists of two basement floors and six above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 9,821 square meters.
