The city of Incheon will expand the cashback benefits for the local currency, the Incheon E-eum Card, starting next month.
As a result, users can receive 10% cashback on payments made with the E-eum Card at all affiliated stores with annual sales of 3 billion won or less. The monthly cashback limit is 300,000 won, allowing users to receive up to 30,000 won per month.
For Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun, which are designated as areas with declining populations, a 15% cashback rate will be applied, allowing users to receive up to 45,000 won in benefits.
Currently, the E-eum Card cashback rate is 10% for affiliated stores in Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun and for stores with annual sales of 300 million won or less, and 7% for stores with annual sales between 300 million and 3 billion won. Affiliated stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won will continue to be excluded from the cashback program in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This expansion of the cashback program is part of the "Emergency Measures for Stabilizing the Livelihood Economy" announced in June. The city expects it will help revitalize the sluggish domestic market and increase sales for small business owners.
An official from the city of Incheon stated, "By expanding the benefits of the local currency, which is used by 87% of our 3 million citizens, we aim to boost local consumption and increase sales for small business owners."
